Want a Ceilidh in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire or Humberside? Then contact us, the Ermine Street Ceilidh Band, for your wedding, party or corporate event.

The band, together with our caller Simon Styles, provide a unique blend of Scottish, Irish and English Ceilidh Sounds with a hint of Americana.

Our name comes from ancient Roman Road of Ermine Street, now the A15 running through Lincolnshire, and is where we are based.

We like to think (i.e. hope!) we have gained quite a reputation for our "toe-tapping" unique blend of guitar, melodion, fiddle, whistle and 5 string banjo. Our latest line-up straddles the generations, keeping alive traditional folk music and dance for all age groups. And please don't be put off by the fiddlers' young ages; their sound is absolutley top notch (see the video and reviews below).

The band generally comprises - (depending on availability)

Simon - our caller whose energy, leadership and helpful instruction makes all the dances easily within the grasp everyone; he is also an accomplished whistle player.

Steve - plays guitar and 5 string banjo. His years of folk playing experience provides a solid rhythm for the dancers.

Mark - plays an Italian DG Melodeon in a very jaunty, Irish way, with plenty of alternating bass - contributing greatly to the band's rhythmical style.

James - acclaimed as "the Most Promising Musician" at Scunthorpe Musical Festival 2016 and has attained classical violin grade 7; his impressive "fiddling" would leave many an adult way behind.

Jasmine - plays ceilidh music with great poise and was acclaimed as "the Most Promising Musician" at the North Lincolnshire Music Festival 2017! She knows the dances off-by-heart and may even give you special instructions on "Strip the Willow".

And with such a line-up who could resist joining in with our varied dance sets - including all the old time favourites such as "Strip the Willow", the "Gay Gordons" and our local square dance "The Louth and Market Raisen Quickstep".

The most important thing is that everyone has a good time, something we are proud to say, happens at every ceilidh, because we enjoy it so much and so do our audience!.

Here we are playing in the Raven Hall Hotel, Ravenscar. You can see lots more on facebook.

We have a high quality PA System and are fully insured (PLI Certificate) and safety tested (PAT Certificate). We are available to play at events throughout Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and surrounding counties.

Dear Ermine Street Band, This is a rather late thank you, but I thought you might like confirmation that we were very happy with your performance the other week, with a particular thank you to the roving caller for his efforts in getting our more reluctant guests to join in! Cheers, Harriet and Jon Gillman
